Before a computer can connect to RUWired you must have a properly installed Ethernet network card.
Note: If you use your computer on another wired network you should record all settings before changing them, so they can be restored for later use.
Click
Start ->
Control Panel

Click the
Network and Internet Connections icon.

At the bottom click the
Network Connections control panel icon.

Now right-click the connection for your Ethernet card and select
Properties.

Double-click
Internet Protocol (TCP/IP).

Click both
Obtain an IP address automatically and
Obtain DNS server address automatically. Click on
OK.

Now select the
Advanced tab in the Wired Network Connection Properties window.
Internet Connection Sharing must not be checked. (You may enable
Internet Connection Firewall if you wish. Please note that it make interfere with some VPN software, but will otherwise work with RUWired.) Select
OK or
Close to save and close the Properties window.

Printing to the Computer Labs
Users of RUWireless and RUWired are able to print to campus computer labs. This process requires a one-time software installation. Once installed, the user can print directly to any* campus lab and pick up the printed document using the standard procedure of swiping his or her ID card at the print release station.
