Before a computer can connect to RUWired you must have a properly installed or (built-in) Ethernet network card. The default settings for most cards are all that is needed to connect to RUWired. However, for those cards that require further configuration these specifics should be helpful.
Note: If you use your computer on another wired network you should record all settings before changing them, so they can be restored for later use.
Once the wired network card is installed and configured you need to configure the cards network settings.
Click Start => Settings => Control Panel

Double-click the "Network and Dial-up Connections" icon.

Now double-click the connection for your wired Ethernet adapter.

Double-click the "Properties" button.

Double-click "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)".

Click both "Obtain an IP address automatically" and "Obtain DNS server address automatically".

Click "OK" in the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Properties window. If you have a tab called "Sharing" in the main properties window, you must click on it, otherwise skip this step. In the "Sharing" tab you must
un-check the box next to "Enable Internet Connection Sharing for this connection"

Click "OK" in the main Properties window. Close the Status window. Close the Network and Dial-up Connections window by clicking on the X in the upper right hand corner.
At this point your computer is ready to use RUWired. For a login demonstration please click
